Austin PPA's annual Photographic Competition is coming up on Sunday afternoon May 7, so get out your calendar and circle the date! The Annual Photographic Competition is different from our monthly print competitions in that three qualified jurors score prints according to the PPA’s twelve elements of a merit image, and provide a numerical score for each print. 

Registration and submission of digital images: deadline is midnight, Thursday, May 4. Even if you are competing with physical prints, you must register by this deadline and submit digital versions of your physical prints.

The event will be kicked off with a catered lunch, followed by print judging and award presentation.

You can attend this event entering prints, digital images, or just attend to observe. It’s going to be a fun and informative event so register now!

BIG CHANGE THIS YEAR: if you're not ready to do a full print case of four images, you can submit individual images. Only $15/image. So if you only have one or two images you want to enter in competition, you'll save money (and stress). If you get to three images, you might as well pay for a case.

  • Print Case Submission: 10:45 am - 11:45 am. Print cases will not be accepted after 11:45 am
  • Lunch: noon - 1 pm. 
  • Print judging: 1 pm - 4 pm
  • Awards / wrap up: 4 pm - 4:30 pm. 
  • Registration deadline: TBD
  • UPDATE: Digital Submissions Allowed and Digital Files Required for Print Submissions - upload your files to http://www.zippyshare.com, and then send the link(s) (you can upload more than one at a time) provided to competition@austinppa.com - please see the rules for details on file size and naming.

  1. Read the rules
  2. Download and fill in the entry form
  3. Cut up the entry form and tape each part to the appropriate entry
A "print case" contains up to four images - they don't actually have to be in a case of some kind. Each image must have one part of the entry form attached to its back. The "Case ID#" will be filled in by the Print Competition Committee when you turn in your case. You decide on the category.
