In this new millennium where content is king, media is everywhere, and timelines seem shorter than ever. It takes a new type of professional to work and be successful. Whether you're a photographer, an illustrator, a designer, or any form of creative, there is an expectation today of how you need to operate in order to provide quality service and earn your income. One thing we realize is that being talented, and "good", might be our measure of quality, but it's the base expectation when working with clients. So in this session we will discuss what it takes to fuel your creativity, turn that into a sellable skill, understand your value proposition, define client types and how to work with them, and much more. On top of all this, we'll of course look at some photography and what happens in the process after you've given up your shot to a commercial client.

Mark Heaps snapped his first picture at the age of four. His grandmother provided him with a camera and film so he could explore the world around him. As he got older he picked up a guitar, a skateboard, and a can of spray paint and thrashed his way into the world of imaging and design. Today he's an Adobe Community Professional. He's a former instructor at Brooks Institute, the former Executive Director for Houndstooth Studio and has held lead positions with Duarte, Google, and Apple. Mark's images and design solutions have been utilized by a wide range of Fortune500 companies as well as boutique agencies. Mark is an Adobe MAX Masters Awarded Speaker, keynote speaker for Bloomberg University’s Creative Arts Symposium and the keynote speaker for PePcon (Print and Electronic Publishing Conference). Mark is an author, instructor, teacher, entrepreneur and, most importantly, husband and father. He currently resides in Austin, Texas, as a workaholic operating under the web label @lifebypixels.
